Professor Paul Ivey is Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Chief Business Officer and has LSBU group responsibility for Innovation: specifically campus development, enterprise, and global delivery.
Educated at the Duke of York’s Royal Military School, Paul began his career as an engineering apprentice and as a certificated sea-going marine engineer. He then studied at the University of Sussex, awarded B.Sc. Engineering and Applied Science, and Doctor of Philosophy. After working as an aerospace design engineer in the US, he returned to the UK to research aero-engine thermo-fluid-mechanics: he authored over one hundred publications in journals, conferences and book chapters; supervised twenty-five Doctoral students securing £13.5M in research contracts and two aero-engine anti-icing patents. He was awarded the title Professor of Turbomachinery.
During his career he has been a Research Fellow at the University of Sussex, Professor at Cranfield University, Head of School at the University of Hertfordshire, Executive Dean at Coventry University and Pro Vice-Chancellor at Birmingham City University. He was also elected County Councillor and twice selected as a Westminster Parliamentary Candidate. Currently he is a Governor at the Emirates Aviation University in Dubai, and Chair of the University of London’s Military Education Committee.
